All too often, chaos descends upon us without warning.

Sometimes it comes down to the whims of an individual. We see it in the workplace—the errant boss, the unreasonable client. It happens on the global stage. Even the child with the unpredictable outbursts brings it.

We brace ourselves. We steel our nerves. We wait.

Here’s what matters most when chaos shows up uninvited:

First, never accept that this is the new normal. The moment we decide that dysfunction is simply how things work now, we’ve surrendered something essential. We’ve traded our clarity for comfort, our standards for survival.

The errant boss doesn’t represent the best of leadership. The unreasonable client doesn’t define what customer service should be. The chaos on the world stage isn’t the only version of the future available to us.

Second, grit in. Not because the chaos will magically disappear, but because you understand something fundamental: this too will pass.

It always does.

The storm rages, yes. But storms move. They spend themselves. They reveal clear skies on the other side.

Your job isn’t to become immune to chaos or to pretend it doesn’t sting. Your job is to hold steady in your knowledge that temporary turbulence isn’t permanent truth. To stand firm in your belief that better exists, even when worse is standing right in front of you.

We endure not because we’re weak, but because we’re wise enough to know the difference between a season and a lifetime.

The question isn’t whether you’ll survive it. You will.

The question is: will you remember who you are while you wait?
