My mother was a great chef. No meal was ever a disappointment.

She could take something mundane and simple and produce something extraordinary. What she never did was bake. No cakes. No elaborate goods of any kind.

So here I am. Decades of culinary adventures behind me. And what do I find myself genuinely excited about?

Banana bread.

It took me this long to discover that something I had largely dismissed holds more variations and possibilities than I ever imagined. And now I look forward to the quest continuing.

The question is not what you know. It is what you have not yet discovered that is sitting right in front of you, hiding in plain sight.
